Extrordinary Encounter

As night falls and the tide comes in, there is an unusual scene to behold.

The beach of Awala-Yalimapo located in the Amana nature reserve is one of the world’s most important egg-laying sites for the Luth turtle. Green turtles and olive ridleys can also be seen here between March and July. Emergence (when hatchlings appear) takes place in July and August. The Maison de la Réserve will guide you as to the rules of turtle observation.
